On October 25th , the Federal Trade Commission said they will be restoring its practice of restricting
future acquisitions for companies that seek “anti-competitive mergers.”
A statement given by the FTC says this “puts industry on notice that the FTC’s merger enforcement
orders will once again require acquisitive firms to obtain prior approval from the agency before
closing any future transaction affecting each relevant market for which a violation was alleged.”
The policy changes are the Biden administration’s modern day moves to pursue antitrust enforcement
more forcefully, specifically towards Big Tech, and the continuation of a transformation of FTC
practices underneath new Chair Lina Khan.
